Abstract
We must prepare for unforeseen futures with the fast and dynamic changes and unlimited sources of information in contemporary society. Sustainability is a main topic scientists raise attention on. When discussing fairness as a point of sustainability and in a broader sense eco-justice; resilience and equity comes into focus, having a tremendous impact on the way we organise our education and the futures of the coming generations. Knowledge and knowledge exchange require a different approach in today’s education to facilitate the use of all the competencies and abilities of the involved parties who have an enormous information accessible. In our discussion paper we describe sustainability as a vision we strive for and highlight the importance of considering the different contexts of everyone involved in dealing with the societal challenges. We also pay attention to the change process education must go through. In the last part, we sketch a conceptual environment that can be used for knowledge management under the changing circumstances.
