Abstract

This paper applies a framework for evaluation of training programs attributed to Kirkpatrick to the context of practicum projects in business analytics programs. The framework is useful because it is a holistic means to assess the quality of the practicum experience. The framework also aligns with prior researchers’ observations on metrics to use in evaluating project-based and field-based learning settings. A prototype example of the framework is provided for a capstone business analytics course at a large state university. It is argued that the application of this measurement framework would be useful for avoiding common pitfalls that occur in analytical practicum projects.
