Abstract

Digital transformation (DT) is a process where digital technologies create disruptions that trigger strategic responses from organisations seeking to alter their value creation paths (Vial 2019). The most effective and efficient way of attaining DT is to increase a company’s ability to sense and respond to threats and opportunities in its operating environment. However, to have a successful DT, organisations cannot just gather technologies and build capabilities; they must be proactive in measuring market reactions in the external environment, making operational changes, and finding the right resources to manage the transformation. One of the most critical challenges facing firms in developing countries is integrating DT within traditional business frameworks where balancing new technologies with established practice often hinders DT efforts (Akbari et al. 2024). In these situations, becoming an agile enterprise with efficient sensing and responding capabilities can offer solutions for organisations managing a dynamic environment. Therefore, this study aims to investigate how agile enterprises in Saudi Arabia orchestrate resources for DT.
