Abstract
Emerging technologies and innovations have profoundly changed the skillsets required from knowledge workers as organizations increasingly rely on low-code development platforms to support citizen development of business applications. This study aims to investigate the influence of personal factors and strategic approaches supported by low-code platform features on metacognitive learning to help managers understand how to infuse the workforce with qualified citizen developers. Initial findings from an experiment demonstrate a positive effect of application self-efficacy on metacognition skills and a positive interaction effect between metacognitive scaffolding and application self-efficacy on metacognition skills. Findings also reveal a positive impact of metacognition skills on perceived learning.
