Abstract

This paper investigates the problem of incorporating human cultural values in defining how information technology should advance an organization. The empirical context of this research is the design of specifications for a construction permit system that incorporates values: green and sustainable buildings construction. The work used a series of workshops designed to both elicit these specifications while exploring and recording cultural values. Examples of the results illustrate elements of a framework of requirements that embody green ambitions such as adhering to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
