Description
While business process modeling is essential for automation, analysis, and digital transformation, it remains a challenge for many organizations. One reason is that domain experts often have no knowledge of business process modeling languages such as BPMN, while modeling experts need considerable effort to learn the details of a business process. Recent advances in generative AI enable automated modeling, but validation still needs to be performed manually by domain experts, which is hardly possible without modeling knowledge. In this paper, we present the BPMN4ALL approach, which enables automatic modeling through speech or text input and validation through the automatic generation of process videos for domain experts without BPMN knowledge. The approach was implemented in a software prototype, for which two procedural models and an explanatory design theory were created. An initial summative evaluation suggests that BPMN4ALL effectively enables non-experts to automatically create valid BPMN models.
