Description
Circular economy business models (CEBM) can reduce resource use and emissions while strengthening regional value creation, yet adoption remains slow due to uncertainty in reverse flows, multi-actor coordination and delayed economic returns. Pre-launch evaluation of CEBMs lacks integrated approaches that combine complementary modelling perspectives across strategic, value-network, operational and dynamic views. Following a Design Science Research approach, we develop a methodological artefact: a multi-method modelling and simulation methodology that links the Business Model Canvas, e3Value, BPMN and System Dynamics through structured mapping logic. The method supports the transition from early concepts to explicit network, process and dynamic simulation models and improves the transparency of assumptions across perspectives. We demonstrate the method on a whey valorization case and evaluate it formatively in a Train-the-Trainer setting with project partners. Results indicate that the workflow supports pre-launch validation by generating decision-relevant evidence on economic, ecological and social outcomes prior to implementation.
