Description

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly reshaping organizational learning and leadership development in contemporary business organizations. This study investigates how AI transforms leadership learning and development through a systematic literature review integrating insights from information systems, organizational learning, and leadership research. Using a PRISMA-guided review process and Gioia-inspired qualitative synthesis, the study identifies four interconnected dimensions of AI-enabled leadership development: AI-augmented learning infrastructure, pedagogical learning mechanisms, human-centered leadership capabilities, and AI governance and organizational readiness. Based on the synthesis, the study develops a socio-technical conceptual framework explaining how AI-supported learning systems interact with experiential learning processes, human-centered leadership practices, and organizational governance conditions. The findings suggest that AI primarily augments rather than replaces leadership development by enabling scalable, adaptive, and data-driven learning environments while preserving the importance of empathy, ethical judgment, and relational leadership. The study contributes to IS research on digital transformation, human–AI collaboration, and organizational learning.
