Description

Over the years, crime rates in India have been rising, and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) face significant challenges due to increasing population, limited resources, urbanization, and ineffective policing models. There is growing interest in using digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address the challenges faced by LEAs in India. Despite the advantages of AI and its potential to generate predictions and deep insights, its adoption and use in crime management however remain limited. This study investigates the key technological factors that influence the AI adoption intention by LEAs for crime management in India. The authors tested their proposed research framework and found that AI technology readiness, compatibility and relative advantage significantly impact the adoption intention of AI applications for crime management. The findings offer a deeper understanding of these factors as well as valuable insights and relevant implications for LEAs, AI vendors and service providers, and researchers.
