Description
This study examines how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) influences communication behaviors in team decision-making contexts. Drawing on Social Influence Theory, we conceptualize AI-induced silence as reduced expressive engagement when GenAI-generated outputs enter team discussions. We propose that evaluation apprehension, silence climate, and cognitive congruence increase AI-induced silence, while GenAI domestication strengthens these effects. Using survey data from professionals who have participated in GenAI-supported team discussions, this research investigates the psychological mechanisms and consequences of AI-induced silence, including reduced knowledge sharing willingness and increased task apathy.
