Description
As information technology advances, information security (InfoSec) threats have become prominent. The banking industry faces the growing complexity of InfoSec challenges alongside its drive for digital innovation, requiring a shift to proactive strategies. While existing studies emphasize InfoSec management strategies, they often neglect the dynamic nature of InfoSec transformation. This research aims to address this gap by examining the formation underpinning such transformations. Building on imbrication theory, this study investigates how the interaction between IT artifacts and routines catalyzes InfoSec transformation. Through a case study approach, the research focuses on a leading Taiwanese bank that successfully redefined its InfoSec posture following a severe ATM heist. The study unfolds how the bank successfully turned a crisis into an opportunity. The findings are anticipated to provide a lens for understanding the dynamics of InfoSec transformation and serve as a guideline for financial institutions to craft innovative strategies.
