Description

Generative social bots (GenSBs) are new participants in the social media context, distinguishing itself from previous social bot with its rich emotional expressions and unique initiation ways, thus creating new experiences for users. In order to explore the factors influencing users’ intention to use GenSBs, this study proposes a theoretical framework consisting of emotional and behavioral cues. Specifically, emotional cues are divided into human-bot emotion congruency and user emotion. Human-bot emotion congruency negatively affects expectancy violation, and user emotion moderates the relationship between these two. Behavioral cue refers to the initiation way, which forms a triadic interaction with human-bot emotion congruency and user emotion, and jointly affects expectancy violation, then influences the intention to use. In this study, 203 valid data were obtained through scenario design and online questionnaires, and the data were analyzed and hypotheses were verified using PLS and SPSS. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.
