Description
The development of AIGC has revolutionized human-AI interaction, notably in AI painting, which is redefining traditional artistic practices. Existing research predominantly focuses on technological innovation and associated legal-ethical challenges, neglecting user participation. Drawing upon the identity theory, this research proposes a model to probe into how AI painting technology and artist identity influence AI painting co-creation intention. It also applies the affordance actualization theory to understand identity formation, considering creative and routine affordance alongside self-efficacy. A study of 183 AI painting users provides general empirical support for our hypothesis. The result shows that creative and routine affordance positively influence two-dimensional identity through self-efficacy, thereby affecting AI painting co-creation intention. The implications of findings are discussed.
