Our study concentrates on establishing circular business models through a systematic method. The literature review identifies a significant gap in methodologies for economic evaluation and the integrated modeling of such models, notably the incorporation of sustainable development goals (SDGs). We delved into the intricacies of business models within the energy sector and uncovered methodological deficiencies in the development of models for rural municipal utilities. Our contribution is a methodological artefact designed to foster the systematic development of customer-centric business models and the and the surrounding information system. It facilitates the transition into network business models and employs system dynamics for modeling and simulation to highlight SDG-related values. Applied to the case of Second Life Batteries, our approach has demonstrated its effectiveness in ensuring both economic and environ-mental viability, thereby addressing a critical gap in integrated methodology for the development and assessment of circular business models.
