Abstract
This paper introduces AI-modeled Cross-Functional Teams (CFTs) within swim lane-based Agile/Scrum to address inter-swim lane dependencies and dynamic resource challenges. This recognizes delays between swimlanes, particularly in IT and manufacturing. We are proposing integrating diverse expertise required in CFTs that will channel resource allocation between teams in a dynamic fashion, reducing idle time for resources and enhancing their utilization. We are modelling our solution using Generative AI which dynamically allocates resources across teams based on real-time resource changes, complementing traditional resource management and their utilization. This approach aims to mitigate delays, enhance workflow, and foster cross-development skills, which augments productivity across teams. We advocate for empirical validation through case studies, simulations, and algorithm development. This conceptual framework offers a more agile and resilient project management strategy for complex projects.
