Abstract

This research-in-progress investigates the impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) on students' learning experiences in social science disciplines. With skills such as personalized reviews and real-time feedback, LLMS offers new opportunities to improve student commitment and critical thinking. This study examines how LLM-powered tools impact learning progress, awareness, and ethical issues in social science education. We will use a mixed-methods (quantitative and qualitative) approach to examine student interactions with different LLM platforms and compare their learning outcomes with those following traditional instruction. Our research aims to gain empirical insights into how educators can responsibly integrate generative AI to foster inquiry-based, personalized, and reflective learning environments in the social sciences discipline.
