Abstract
This research provides a novel system for instruction in enterprise virtualization using nested virtualization. The system allows students to administer their own enterprise virtualization system without the need for added hardware by nesting an enterprise virtualization server within another virtual server. Because this was tested within a course on network infrastructure, this was integrated as part of each student’s existing network infrastructure. Findings from a longitudinal study show that students experience significant increases in self-efficacy through utilization of the developed system; however, this positive increase is accompanied by decreases in outcome expectations and interest. Overall, the system provides a working example that educators can use for instruction of enterprise virtualization technologies in their courses.
