Abstract

This study presents an index to calculate the level of prosumption defined as the ability of an individual to produce and consume one or more goods autonomously [1]. We analyse the concept of prosumer introduced by Toffler [2] and further developed by Kotler [3], Tapscott [4] so that the Prosumer Index (PI) can subsequently be presented. A hypothetical example is used in the work to illustrate implications and solutions to improving prosumer efficiency. This study offers a quantitative measure that can define the prosumer by calculating the level of prosumption and defining its requirements.
