Abstract
Complex new business solutions and platforms are represented by complex knowledge artifacts that are hard to comprehend, since modern time business processes are more dynamic and complex. This work focuses on the process model reuse by everyone, especially the nonexperts and novice users, and the people who are directly or indirectly related to the process. The various values, expectations, and conflicting goals of the actors involved can be represented through the concept of personas. We present a flexible viewing prototype, FlexView, designed for inspecting business process models. FlexView provides essentially a persona-based walkthrough of a business process model. The visualization approach presented in this work is more comprehensive compared to other approaches for Business Process Model visualizations since it incorporates personal attributes, context, and psychological traits of the user. The prototype was tested by novice users who were not professionally trained. The results show an overall preference for the proposed prototype by novice, untrained users.
