Abstract

This study uses social network analysis to examine mental health discussions within the r/Entrepreneur subreddit. Analyzing a network of 5,939 nodes (members) and 6,186 edges (relationships), from the last six years, we found a highly fragmented network characterized by brief, targeted exchanges rather than sustained engagement. Multiple members with distinct roles shared influence rather than a single central authority. Applying two-step flow theory, we identified simultaneous ‘micro-flows’ through specialized subgroups rather than hierarchical cascades. Work-life stressors dominated discourse, while sensitive topics (e.g., Sleep Issues & Medication, Suicidal Thoughts) remained in smaller clusters. The network scaled from 610 to 2,106 nodes while maintaining structural fragmentation, suggesting a stable interaction pattern that underscores the enduring role of anonymous platforms in facilitating mental health discussions.
