Abstract
The current AI revolution critically depends on massive amounts of training data. However, data are not just inputs to AI models which also produce massive amounts of new data that, in turn, may shape human behavior and be recursively fed back to the models. AI models are thus involved in contributing both to their own evolution and that of future information systems through data, which is a novel and currently not well understood issue in information systems research. To bolster research into the issues of data and AI, we propose a professional development workshop featuring both a panel of senior scholars presenting and discussing issues related to AI and data, as well as roundtables where participants can engage with a variety of research themes at the intersection of AI and data.
