Abstract

The rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is transforming organizational workflows and redefining how employees approach their tasks. As these tools become more prevalent, many employees face uncertainty about how to use them effectively and responsibly—making targeted and well-designed training essential. While existing research has largely focused on the potential and risks of GenAI, less attention has been given to how users learn to apply it—despite this posing a major challenge for many. Therefore, we conducted qualitative expert interviews to identify effective approaches to employee training and developed a comprehensive GenAI training model. The model includes a needs assessment, tailored learning based on preferences and prior knowledge, practical skills like prompt engineering, awareness of GenAI’s risks, promotion of critical thinking, and continuous improvement through feedback and evaluation. These components aim to ensure the successful and sustainable adoption of GenAI in organizations while supporting employee engagement and development.
