Abstract
Presently, we experience how algorithms and robots excel in many domains, from chatbots to surgeries. Simultaneously, boundaries of companies are being redefined and new digitally born business models are arising. The need for IS research to embrace these new logics of everyday work, where humans get augmented by robots and software agents, would be hard to overstate. This paper, therefore, focuses on data-based relationships of autonomous agents with the other participants involved in daily interactions. To build a conceptual framework, the relational view on roles for agents is utilized alongside concepts of meta-organization. Two startups introducing robots in agriculture and a power plant exemplify the framework. The preliminary findings are presented with multiple roles an agent can play.
