The latest technological developments have a significant impact on every business sector and are expected to trigger extensive changes. With these changes, technical, behavioral, and digital competencies have become more important in the IT sector. In this paper, we explore how the individual, team, and organizational competencies are interrelated and build a multi-level model. The findings, based on 21 in-depth interviews with IT professionals in 13 organizations from France and Spain, indicate that the type of competencies and their strength of the transfer vary across levels. Factors such as organizational size, organizational culture, team composition, and team culture differentiate this interaction. The findings offer insights on how to facilitate the development and transfer of competencies within organizations across different levels.
