Description
Today's organizations make tremendous efforts to train their workforce in information security. Still, many of their employees tend to suffer from overconfidence with regard to their ability to thwart security breaches and incidents. As this systematic misjudgment can have serious consequences for business, the search for means that solve this misperception seems more than requisite. In this paper, we propose using calibration as a means to overcome the pitfalls of information security overconfidence and testing its influence on simple as well as more sophisticated security tasks. The results of our research endeavor should help practitioners conceptualize adequate interventions and security workshops.
