Recent research has been carried out investigating the integration of e-commerce in major industries such as travel agency [12], e-mortgages [6] and banking [9]. Most of this research indicated that e-commerce potentially plays a major role in the business process of these organisations. This paper examines real estate agencies in the same way, as e-commerce redefines how the intermediary between seller and buyer may operate. The impact, benefits and implication of Internet on real estate agency have been investigated in the literature review. This study seeks to explore current situation and performance of the online real estate agency website in New Zealand, and to determine crucial web elements for this industry and to propose a tailored model that will serve as a benchmark for evaluating online real estate agency websites in New Zealand.
