Abstract

This paper reproduces, contextualizes, and comments on a conversation between the authors and Gemini in which indoctrination through use of LLMs for research purposes emerged as a possible, as yet undescribed new problem. While the authors do not agree on whether or not indoctrination is a necessary consequence of such use, the paper makes some first steps towards clarifying the ontological conditions under which this can be assumed to be the case. However, the main purpose of the paper is to alert the community to this potential problem and to encourage its further exploration and clarification.
