Abstract
As aging populations face health education needs, AI presenters offer a scalable way to deliver information to older adults. However, little is known about how AI presenter design influences older adults’ responses and engagement. Drawing on the Heuristic–Systematic Model, the Stereotype Content Model, and Source Credibility Theory, this study proposes a framework explaining how attire (white coat vs. smart-casual) and language style (clinical vs. layperson) shape affective and cognitive credibility. Affective credibility is expected to enhance empathic presence, whereas cognitive credibility is expected to strengthen health-education mindfulness, fostering health engagement. A 2 × 2 between-subjects experiment with adults aged 65 and older is proposed to test the model. This research is expected to extend persuasion theory in AI-delivered health education and offer design guidance for AI presenters serving aging populations.
