Abstract
This study examines live streaming as a human–computer–mediated interaction rather than simple media consumption. Drawing on Uses and Gratifications (U&G) theory and an affordance-based perspective, the study explores how platform features shape user experience. Specifically, it focuses on key affordances—interactivity, agency, modality, and navigability—and how they influence users’ perception, immersion, and engagement in live-streaming environments. The proposed model suggests that affordance-based gratifications contribute to both utilitarian and hedonic value, which in turn drive user satisfaction and continued use intention. By integrating Human-Computer-Mediated Interaction (HCI) concepts with U&G theory, this research advances a more context-sensitive understanding of how user experience is co-created through interaction with platform design. The findings contribute to understanding user engagement and sustainable participation in live streaming environments.
