Abstract

Digital Transformation is a multifaceted concept related to profound changes in society and contemporary organizations. However, empirical evidence on the critical factors for successful digital transformation initiatives in organizations remains scant. Thus, this study investigates the key success factors that enable digital transformation in organizations in the Brazilian retail sector, and ranks the degree of importance of these factors, using a Delphi-based approach. The results demonstrate that most factors are tied to management capability and business processes rather than technology alone. Therefore, a continuous assessment of the organization's digital evolution, aligned with market trends, is crucial to the success of digital transformation initiatives. This study contributes to the extant literature by addressing the scarcity of empirical evidence on the critical factors for digital transformation in organizations. While prior research has often focused on technological aspects, this investigation provides sector-specific insights, and practical guidance for retail firms navigating digital evolution.
