Abstract
Quantum Computing (QC) represents a paradigm shift in computation, offering transformative potential across domains while introducing multifaceted adoption challenges. Despite increasing attention to quantum algorithms, theoretical understanding of QC adoption remains limited. This article addresses this gap by integrating strategic perspectives from Information Systems (IS) adoption theories. Considering different stages of technical maturity, we identify the complementary relevance of the Technology Readiness Index (TRI) theory and the Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory in assessing readiness to use. Further, we establish a systematic mapping of four foundational IS theories, including Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM), Technology-Organizational-Environment (TOE) framework, and IS Success Model, to the intersection of user level (individual vs. organizational) and technology stage (nascent vs. mature). Our structured propositions provide theoretical foundations for QC adoption research and practical guidance for selecting theoretical lenses for future investigation.
