Abstract
This project describes a teaching case that introduces students to the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in data analytics utilizing a real-world dataset, elements of experiential learning, and a market-leading data analytics tool. Specifically, students will acquire, clean, and load a real-world gasoline price dataset, and then experiment with out-of-the-box Microsoft Power BI functionality to create AI-driven visualizations and conduct and evaluate forecasting efforts. The case outlines a number of thought-provoking discussion activities to encourage students to critically review the output of AI techniques as compared to human efforts. With pervasive AI disruption expected in the data analytics field, this teaching case serves prepare students for their future careers through exposure to AI in data analytics.
