Abstract
There is a pressing need for innovative and effective solutions that can be deployed to address the growing trend of targeted ransomware attacks in South Africa, one of which is the concept of data visualisation for cybersecurity. This study developed a visualisation tool (Viztool), to mitigate targeted ransomware attacks in South Africa. The design science approach was adopted, and the tool was initially tested with 120 cybersecurity experts. Initial findings indicate that the Visualisation tools can provide a more intuitive representation of complex data patterns, enabling cybersecurity analysts to detect anomalies, understand threat landscapes, and respond to ransomware threats more effectively.
