We invite the French-speaking community to explore the transformative and performative effects of Emerging Information Technologies (EITs) and AI systems. This call aligns with the themes of AMCIS. We encourage scholars to examine how EITs and AI systems may reshape work, managerial practices, and broader political and societal realities.
Emerging Information Technologies (EITs), such as predictive analytics, blockchain, IoT, 3/4D printing, digital twins, and augmented reality systems, represent a class of technologies that are novel, fast-growing, and possess the potential for significant socio-economic impact. Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems as EITs, have sparked considerable debate regarding their potential and risks. EITs are anticipated to transform and reconfigure management and work practices in organizations, potentially altering the dynamics of user-technology interactions and blurring the lines between human and technological agency (Faraj et al., 2018). This transformative potential raises several pertinent questions about their impact on organizational control, professional identities, ethical considerations, and broader societal changes (Orlikowski and Scott, 2016; Schildt, 2017; Li et al., 2018).
