Abstract
The paper presents a research concept focused on Digital Transformation (DT) within Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) in Poland. The primary goal of this planned study is to assess the current state, key trends, and characteristics of DT within MSE in Poland. Additionally, it seeks to identify best practices in their utilization of Information Systems (IS) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The article emphasizes the project's significance in light of existing knowledge and the European Commission's report on DT in Polish enterprises, highlighting the pivotal role of SMEs in the Polish economy. Following this contextualization, the paper outlines the specific objectives of the proposed research, providing its detailed work plan. The research methodology is also explained, encompassing the approach to conducting the study, its analysis and result processing. Conclusions drawn from preliminary research, which delves into the determination of IS/ICT classes supporting DT, exploration of the IS/ICT market offerings tailored for MSE, and a bibliometric analysis, are presented as well. The bibliometric analysis showed that issues related to DT in MSE have been very rarely explored so far.
