Abstract
The advent and integration of Artificial Intelligence(AI) into cybersecurity poses both opportunities and challenges while significantly impacting the role of cybersecurity professionals. This study investigates how these professionals perceive AI strategies within organizations amidst rising cyber threats and a booming AI market. We use a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews to explore the responsibilities of cybersecurity experts in safeguarding against AI-driven vulnerabilities while fostering innovation. Our findings highlight the professionals’ pivotal role in balancing security with AI’s potential, with an emphasis on the importance of ethical considerations and strategic alignment in AI deployments. Data from 16 cybersecurity professionals across various sectors provide insights into the complexities of AI in cybersecurity, suggesting a proactive approach to embedding security in AI development for resilient systems. This study contributes to understanding the critical interface between cybersecurity and AI, advocating for enhanced support to cybersecurity functions in AI-driven organizational strategies.
