Abstract

Depression and anxiety, which were considered severe public health challenges, got further exacerbated by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. While COVID-19-related physical health issues are in decline, mental health issues like depression and anxiety remain major threats to public mental health. Unsurprisingly, the importance of telehealth services to prevent mental health conditions has increased after the pandemic. However, the effectiveness of such telehealth services to prevent or cure mental health conditions remains an unattended question. We address this research gap by evaluating the effectiveness of telehealth services in mitigating depression and anxiety across various social and demographic cross-sectional populations of the USA. For this purpose, we plan to analyze large-scale population survey data collected by the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). Our research will inform health service providers and policymakers by generating insights for the successful development of effective telehealth services for people prone to mental health conditions.
