Abstract

This study investigates whether GAI automation induces complacency and what factors cause GAI-induced complacency. By adopting a configurational view to understand the conditions of GAI-induced complacency, this study proposes a research model predicting GAI-induced complacency, including individual, situational, and technological factors. Considering that GAI is increasingly used for non-routine and critical tasks, this study is expected to increase our understanding and normative knowledge of the misuse of GAI automation, especially addressing the GAI-specific factor, AI hallucination.
