Abstract
This research explores the perception and actualisation of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) affordances within Australian healthcare organisations. Addressing a gap in the literature that predominantly focuses on affordance actualisation without sufficient attention to affordance perception, this study employs a mixed-methods approach. The first study conducts a systematic review to identify the material properties and use cases of GenAI specific to healthcare. The second study surveys healthcare organisations to conceptualise GenAI affordance perception and examines its antecedents and consequences. The third study involves expert interviews to investigate how healthcare organisations develop capabilities to actualise GenAI affordances. The study is expected to provide theoretical insights into the perception-actualisation process and offer practical guidance for effectively integrating GenAI in healthcare.
