Abstract
This webinar will discuss the 2012 Best Paper awarded by the Journal of the Association of Information Systems. “A Glorious and Not-So-Short History of the Information Systems Field,” by Rudolf Hirschheim and Heinz Klein covers the past 40 years of the information systems discipline. This paper reflects on the intellectual contributions and the formation of the IS Field. It attempts to understand the field’s origin and how it has evolved through the past 4 decades. It also looks to the future and discusses potential future paths for the IS Disciplines and ways in which the IS community can play a role in charting its own course.
