Abstract

This article analyses a fundamental aspect, that is, the content of vertical interorganizational relationships in terms of technology diffusion among primes and subcontractors. The content of these relationships is formalized through a technology diffusion model. Applied to a sample of 64 firms, the model allows us to measure the intensity of the relationships, among primes and subcontractors and the depth of technological diffusion. Despite the intensity of the relationships, we uncovered that technological diffusion is limited to the explicit component (structured and public). However, the implicit component (non structured and private) is "sticky" (difficult to transfer).
