Abstract

Gartner’s Hype Cycle shows that Cloud-Computing adoption is shifting to mainstream use, including production and mission-critical operations. Cloud-based start-ups offer business value to their customer either by providing basic or enabling value-added computing, platform, storage or software services. Research has discussed the impact of IT Practices on value creation but only a few throw light on such practices in the context of Cloud-based start-ups. This study identifies ten IT practices through a review of ASP and Cloud Computing literature. Implications for business and theory are discussed.
